QUOC × Lucas Lajoie: Les Champion(ne)s du Monde à Montréal
The story behind a limited-edition bandana, made for Road Worlds.
Journeys taken by bike leave an imprint; the memories you hold onto, the stories you tell, or simply somewhere in the subconscious. Artist Lucas Lajoie makes his visible. Last year he strapped a blank canvas to his bike and let fifty days in Europe do the painting, via road dust, wild berries, and doodles from strangers met along the way. That ride inspired LIBRE, an art series so moving that Quoc hung a piece in our office as a daily reminder of the unplanned detours that define why QUOC exists.
Now, as Road Worlds arrives in Montréal for the first time in 52 years, we’ve brought Lucas back to his adopted home city. To mark the moment, he painted an exclusive sister piece to LIBRE titled Les Champion(ne)s du Monde à Montréal—his view of the city seen from the saddle of a bike—reimagined here as a limited-edition lifestyle bandana you can carry on your own road.
THE COLLABORATION
We first met Lucas in Montréal—brush in hand, turning a pair of M3 Airs into a living canvas. Among the crowd that had gathered for music and conversation, he transferred his fast, layered style onto footwear, creating something gloriously alive.
We kept in touch as his life on the road connected Montréal with places across the world, from Sydney to remote bikepacking routes beyond. We followed his journey across Europe with no itinerary and one rule: let the road leave its trace. From the gravel of the Turin–Nice to the hills of the Jura, the canvas filled with everything the journey handed him.
From Canvas to Wearable Art
The European canvas became the seed of LIBRE, the series Lucas showed in Montréal. We fell for the work immediately. Quoc bought a piece for himself, and it remains framed in our office as a symbol of the unique experiences only discoverable by bike.
Now the road comes full circle. As Montréal returns to the world stage of cycling, we’re reuniting with Lucas to share his latest work with the race crowd. Les Champion(ne)s du Monde à Montréal translates his signature layered painting style into a premium 100% cotton bandana. Crafted with a silky-soft hand-feel and ultra-vibrant print detailing, it looks remarkable folded as a daily accessory or unrolled flat on display.
